Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Commitment to Equity

At the heart of our mission to improve lives in Spokane County is a deep and personal commitment to equity. We prioritize equity as a non-negotiable core value, standing against all forms of oppression and seizing opportunities for meaningful growth and positive change.

Acknowledging Systemic Challenges

We recognize that systemic racism, deeply rooted in our history and local context, has long marginalized and dehumanized individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. This form of systemic racism not only creates significant barriers for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) but also reinforces and intersects with other forms of oppression, impacting everyone.

Broad and Inclusive Commitment
Our commitment extends beyond addressing racism alone. We understand that systemic inequities also affect other marginalized communities, and those who face discrimination. These interconnected issues create complex barriers and perpetuate oppression across different groups. We denounce all forms of oppression.

Dedication to Ongoing Progress
We uphold equity as a fundamental core value and understand that achieving true equity requires ongoing effort and dedication. We view setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning, striving to create a more just and inclusive community for everyone.
