.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is transforming early childhood education in Spokane County by providing free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five. Through this program, every enrolled child receives a new book each month, delivered directly to their home, helping to foster a love of reading and build a foundation for lifelong learning.
Since its launch in Spokane County, over 14,000 children have been enrolled, and more than 200,000 books have been distributed. These books are carefully selected to encourage imagination, promote family reading time, and support early literacy development. By investing in DPIL, we’re empowering children with the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Benefits of Early Literacy
-
Literacy is a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty.
-
Only about half of Washington State students are reading at grade level, with the greatest challenges in BIPOC and low-income communities.
-
Some Spokane County schools report kindergarten readiness rates as low as 9%.
-
Access to books is vital, especially for families with limited access to libraries.
When will sign-ups start again?
